7 Tips for Visiting the Circleville Pumpkin Show on a Mobility Scooter

The Circleville Pumpkin Show has been running since 1903, and every October it turns more than 12 blocks of downtown Circleville — about 30 minutes south of Columbus on US-23 — into a giant street fair built around pumpkin pie, pumpkin donuts, a giant pumpkin weigh-off, carnival rides, and daily parades. It's free to attend and draws crowds from well beyond Pickaway County. If you're bringing a parent, grandparent, or anyone who tires quickly on their feet, a little planning makes the day much easier. Here are seven things worth knowing before you go.

1. Know the dates and the hours

The 2026 show runs Wednesday, October 21 through Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 10 PM each day. Street restrictions in the downtown footprint typically begin the Sunday before the show opens, so if you're driving into Circleville that week for another reason, expect detours starting several days early.

2. Plan for a car-free downtown

Vehicle traffic is restricted across a large stretch of downtown — roughly from South Scioto Street to Pickaway Street, and from Watt/Pinckney Street down to Franklin Street. That's a lot of ground with no cars, which is good news once you're inside the footprint, but it also means parking gets pushed further out. Look for a spot on the edge of the closure and plan to cover that last stretch on the scooter rather than on foot.

3. Mornings are calmer than evenings

The show stays open until 10 PM, and the parades — there are seven over the four days, including the Little Miss Pumpkin Show Parade at 3:30 PM and the Miss Pumpkin Show Parade at 8 PM — pull heavy crowds into the streets in the afternoon and evening. If your priority is easy movement between food booths and exhibits rather than catching a parade, a late-morning arrival gives you noticeably more room before the sidewalks fill in.

4. Expect narrow lanes between booths

Downtown Circleville's streets and sidewalks are paved and largely flat, which is a solid surface for a scooter. During the show, vendor booths and food stands narrow those same streets considerably, so give yourself extra following distance and be ready to pause rather than push through when the crowd bunches up near a popular booth.

5. Find the giant pumpkin weigh-off early

The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In happens at the corner of Court Street and Main Street and is one of the show's biggest draws — growers from around the region bring pumpkins that can weigh well over a thousand pounds. If seeing the weigh-in matters to you, get there ahead of the announced time, since the corner fills in fast once word spreads about a contender.

6. Get your scooter delivered ahead of the trip

Circleville sits just south of our standard Greater Columbus service area, but we regularly deliver to Pickaway County addresses on a scheduled basis — call ahead to confirm your specific address. Booking a few days before the show means your scooter arrives sanitized, charged, and ready, with a quick walkthrough of the controls, instead of trying to arrange something the morning you leave.

7. Know the cost before you book

Ohio rentals start at $20/day for long-term rentals, with shorter stays priced at $40/day for 2 days, $35/day for 3–6 days, and $25/day for 7–19 days. There's no deposit and no contract. Scheduled delivery, setup, and pickup are included at no extra charge; a same-day delivery, if your plans come together at the last minute, carries a $20 fee.
