If you're not specifically going for the race, it's worth knowing that September 24 will feel different from the rest of the week: more traffic, fuller parking lots, and longer lines from the moment gates open.
Walking the Grounds
The fairgrounds mix paved walkways near the midway and exhibit halls with grassy or gravel stretches around the livestock barns and outer parking areas. None of it is especially hilly, but a full visit — barns, midway, a grandstand show, and back again for food or a second look at something — adds up to real distance by the end of the day. Late-September afternoons in Ohio can still run warm, so factor in shade breaks and hydration if you're planning to stay for several hours.
Picking Your Day
If your schedule is flexible, the early weekdays of the fair (the 19th through the 23rd) tend to be noticeably calmer than the closing weekend. Smaller crowds mean shorter lines, easier parking, and more room to move at your own pace. If Little Brown Jug Day itself is the point of your visit, plan for a fuller lot and a busier grandstand area, and give yourself extra time getting from the car to your seat.
Getting There from Nearby Towns
