Flying In for the Holidays? Have a Mobility Scooter Waiting When You Land

Picture a daughter in Columbus waiting on her mother's flight, or a son in San Jose planning a week with his father. The visit is the easy part. The question that keeps coming up is smaller: how will Mom get around once she's here?

Bringing a scooter on a plane is a lot to manage. Renting one that is already waiting is simpler. Here is how a typical landing day can go.

Two weeks before: pick your dates and your address

Decide where the scooter should be: the family home, a hotel, or a short-term rental. Then think about how long you will really use it. Most holiday visits run three days to a week, which is exactly when renting tends to beat buying.

Prices come straight from our rate tables:

  • Ohio: from $20/day. The rate is $40/day for 2 days, $35 for 3–6 days, $25 for 7–19 days, and $20 for 20 or more.
  • Bay Area: from $25/day. It is $50/day for 2 days, $40 for 3–6 days, and $25 for 20 or more days.

There is no deposit and no contract.

One week before: book it

Holiday weeks fill up. Request a free quote or call (614) 500-3616 (calls and texts). Give us:

  1. The delivery address, and the hotel name if it is a hotel
  2. Your arrival date and a realistic time window
  3. How many days you need it
  4. Anything you want to mention, such as small doorways or elevators

We confirm by phone, so you are not guessing.

The day before: a quick checklist

  • Confirm with the hotel that someone can accept the delivery if you are not in the room yet.
  • Ask the front desk where a scooter can charge overnight. A standard outlet near the bed or desk is usually all that is needed.
  • Look at the route from the room to the door. Elevators and wide hallways matter more than distance.

Landing day: the part that feels easy

Many airports offer wheelchair assistance from the curb to the gate or from the gate to the car. If your loved one needs help getting through the terminal, ask the airline ahead of time. Their policies are their own, so check with them.

Once you reach the hotel or home, the scooter is waiting. We schedule delivery so that it is there when you are, and we set it up, show you the controls, and explain charging before we leave. Scheduled delivery, setup, and pickup are free. If you need it the same day, same-day delivery is $20 (it is not free), and 7–9 AM delivery is also $20.

A few minutes of practice in the hallway or driveway is usually all it takes for someone to feel steady. Take it slowly, and practice forward, reverse, and tight turns before heading out.

During the visit: keep it simple

Let your loved one set the pace. The scooter can make the grocery run, a family dinner, or a lap around a holiday light display more comfortable. For ideas near you, see our guides to Columbus holiday shopping at Polaris or Christmas in the Park in San Jose.

Departure day: no hauling

When it is time to go home, you do not have a scooter to fold, pack, or ship. Tell us your checkout date and we pick it up. Pickup is free.
